Materials & Construction

Every Russell & Bromley belt begins with leather selected from specialist Italian tanneries we’ve partnered with for decades. We specify full-grain hides for our smooth leather belts and brushed suede from the softest sections of the hide for our suede styles.
Our London workshops handle the finishing stages of every belt. Craftspeople hand-paint edges, attach hardware, and inspect each piece against our quality standards. The same attention to detail that defines our men’s footwear carries through to every accessory we create.
Sizing & Fit Guidance

Russell & Bromley belts follow standard sizing conventions measured in inches, corresponding to your trouser waist size. We recommend ordering your usual trouser size – our belts are cut to fasten at the middle hole when worn at natural waist height.
Each belt includes five adjustment holes spaced at 2.5cm intervals, providing approximately 10cm of adjustment range. This ensures a proper fit even as leather relaxes slightly during the break-in period.
Care & Maintenance

Proper care extends the life of Russell & Bromley belts significantly. We recommend wiping smooth leather belts with a soft, slightly damp cloth after wear to remove dust and surface oils. Apply a thin layer of neutral leather cream every 4-6 weeks to maintain suppleness.
For suede belts, use a suede brush to lift the nap and remove any dried dirt. Avoid getting suede wet – if moisture does contact the surface, blot immediately with an absorbent cloth and allow to air-dry naturally. Never apply heat.

Each belt includes five holes with 2.5cm spacing between them, providing approximately 10cm of total adjustment. If you prefer a specific fit or are between sizes, measure from the buckle base to your preferred hole on a current well-fitting belt and contact our team for guidance.
We use full-grain Italian leather from tanneries we've worked with for decades, and finish each belt by hand in our London workshops. This includes hand-painting edges, attaching solid brass or nickel hardware, and individual quality inspection.
High-street belts typically use lower-grade leather and machine finishing. Our vegetable-tanned leather develops character over time rather than deteriorating, and our construction methods ensure the belt will last for many years rather than a single season.
Our Classic Leather Belt in black or dark brown works across both formal and smart-casual contexts. The clean design and quality materials allow it to transition from business suits to weekend chinos effectively.
For purely casual wear, our Woven Leather Belt or Suede Belt options add texture and visual interest that complements relaxed tailoring. The Reversible Belt offers exceptional versatility, providing two colour options in a single piece.
Wipe smooth leather belts with a slightly damp cloth after wearing to remove dust and oils. Apply neutral leather cream every 4-6 weeks to maintain suppleness and prevent drying.
Store belts loosely coiled or hung rather than folded to prevent permanent creasing. For suede belts, use a suede brush to lift the nap and avoid water contact. Keep all belts away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight, which can dry and fade the leather over time.
Quality leather like ours will relax slightly during the first few weeks of wear as it conforms to your body. This is normal and desirable – the belt becomes more comfortable while maintaining its structure.
Our full-grain leather and reinforced construction prevent the excessive stretching that causes cheaper belts to lose their shape. If you notice significant stretching after the initial break-in period, you may need to move to a smaller adjustment hole. The belt itself remains structurally sound.
Yes, we offer alteration and repair services for our belts. If you need a belt shortened to a custom length, our workshops can trim the strap and reattach the buckle professionally.
We can also replace worn buckles, re-stitch loose sections, and recondition leather that's become dried or damaged. Contact our customer service team with your requirements – we recommend bringing or sending the belt to one of our stores for assessment.
Our belt collection includes styles designed for both men and women. The Classic Leather Belt and Reversible Belt are available in women's sizing (typically 26-36), while certain seasonal styles are created specifically for women's fashion trends.
The key differences involve width (women's belts are often slightly narrower) and sizing increments. Our staff can guide you toward the best options for your wardrobe requirements, whether you're looking for tailored, casual, or fashion-forward styles.
